Fashion & music promo photography is something I always want to combine with a little bit of creative twist. This time I teamed up with FilmTank and Release Records to photograph THIRD ≡ PARTY‘s new merchandise line TOGETHER Worldwide for their launch promo.
To match the overall branding the guys requested the street & outdoor photography to add a touch of film-y grainy effects, plus a super chill and casual feeling. We started the day by wandering around the fabulous Manchester Northern Quarter. There are just so many locations that make awesome backdrop! I particularly like the red brick all and colourful graffitis. They really showcase the roots of Manchester’s creative scene.
Later in the day we move indoor to NQ Studio based in the heart of Northern Quarter. Along with the full set of studio lights they had onsite, FilmTank Jim brought some LED sticks that adds an extra kick of the neon lights vibes. A little music promo photography tip for colour combination: pick two colours on the opposite sides of the colour wheel to compliment each other.
After the sunset we went for another stroll on the street. Looking for places at have neon light signs and shop front.
Area 10 is back to Liverpool Bramley-Moore Dock with MK, Hannah Wants, Paul Woolford, Nightlapse & more.
This was one of the last events I shot just before Covid. Surely a good one to remember. Liverpool crowd was epic as usual. Bramley-Moore Dock is the venue for Yousef Presents Circus Liverpool, and it was on my bucket list for a long period of time. I am so glad I crossed it off finally!
Nightlife photography in Liverpool is so much fun. The crowd always so energetic and production are on point. I especially love the warehouse and industrial style venue structure, although it was a tiny teeny issue for me to get a good right-in-the-centre crowd shot because the front of house is in a rather awkward place. That is to say with a little bit of help from my monopod I managed to stand at the back of the crowd and get some pictures to showcase the crazy laser production.

Think of a place combine good music, creative people, sunshine in winter and giant cuban sandwich with beer… What’s better than Miami Music Week and Winter Music Conference? In 2019 I toured with China’s one and only Carta as a music tour photographer in Miami, documenting the day in his life as DJ during Miami Music Week.
The daily schedule was packed with poolside shows, interviews, catching up with friends and fellow DJs in the music industry, along with a good meal with his mentors/friends — the legendary House DJ duo Chocolate Puma. We started the day at Spinnin’ Records Spinnin’ Hotel at Sixty Hotel on South Beach. Finishing up with a back to back session with Chocolate Puma at their A Journey Through House show at Shore Club on Collins Avenue.
What does it like to be a music photographer in Miami on tour? I have put together a mini album of the exciting 24 hours I toured with Carta. One thing for sure, it was filled with laughter, beer, good music and awesome friends. Ft. Chocolate Puma, Breathe Carolina, Terry Zhong, EDX, Spinnin’ Record and more.
Enjoy!
I have also followed Carta around at Amsterdam Dance Event ADE 2019. Check this post out
August Bank Holiday is always the busiest weekend in summer. Running between SW4 in London and Creamfields in Cheshire (heart of England yeh) this year, I managed to capture some precious moments at both massive music festivals in the UK.
The last ever Cocoon In The Park 2019 returned to Leeds Temple Newsam with a bang! The lineup includes tech-house favourites Patrick Topping, Edible boss Eats Everything b2b We Are The Brave boss Alan Fitzpatrick, the legendary Carl Craig and FUSE London originators Enzo Siragusa and Rich NxT, and of course the one of only, Sven Vath.
Thanks Papa Sven and Foz for having me again at this annual celebration in Leeds! Even though 2019 marks the “last ever” CITP, we surely have something even bigger planned for the years to come!
